Pyramids is a fully-featured OS X population pyramids generator that enables you to visualize, analyze and study the demographics of a certain population.

Demographics can be defined as quantifiable statistics of a chosen population. In addition, demographics can be referred to as the study that analyses the quantifiable subsets within a specified population and which can define that population at a certain point in time.

Pyramids is a free utility that can be downloaded and installed via the Mac App Store with just a few mouse clicks. The installation process takes only a couple of minutes and requires less than 1MB from your Mac’s hard disk.

Pyramids features a well-designed interface from which you have quick and easy access to four different predefined pyramids examples that you can use in your own projects. The Import Data slide sheet helps you download and use data for different years and for various countries around the world. All data is provided by the US Census Bureau and, as a result, you can choose any year between 1950 and 2050.

You can also view the title of the pyramid along with the source of the data and the quantified subjects in the main panel of Pyramids. The pyramid can be customized by changing the background, font, and the color of the quantified population from within the Pyramid Colors panel.

What is more, you can change the font of the pyramid and enable or disable various view options such as main title and subtitle, grand total number, category totals, ratio, percentage, categories and scale. The generated pyramid can be easily saved as a PNG image file or a PDF document to a location of your choice.

In conclusion, Pyramids is a smooth-running and very easy to use application that enables you to create a wide variety of population pyramids and use them in your projects.
